Evaluation of the effectiveness of an intervention in a health team to prevent falls in hospitalized elderly people

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention program in practices and behaviors a health team to prevent falls hos pitalized elderly people. Method: This was action, mixed-methods, longitudinal study that applied based on TeamSTEPPS®, organized into five domains: training, communication, leadership, monitoring, mutual support. The population nurses nursing aides who worked at medical service Portuguese hospital center. Data were obtained by consulting process records interviews, applying Scale Practices Behaviors Teams for Fall Prevention. Results: There improvement all indicators scale, with evident progress discussion risk factors preventive measures be implemented. Conclusion: promoted decision-making regarding each person improved communication interest identifying causes their recurrence.
